Horse Riding and Racing in Spain
Riding
If the idea of horse riding through picturesque countryside
in idyllic conditions all year round appeals to you, then
Spain could be your equestrian dream location.
There is a wide choice of riding tours and instruction in
Spain is very reasonable, compared to British prices. Excellent
horseback riding safaris are available.
EL REFUGIO (The Refuge) is situated between
Torrevieja and Guardamar, Costa Blanca and near the La Mata
Salt Lakes. El Refugio caters for beginners and experienced
riders and it’s worth a visit even if you don’t
want to ride just to have a look around and enjoy the nice
restaurant there. There is a stud farm attached where they
breed and sell Andalusian horses and Hispo-Arabians, Lusitanos.
If you are keen to be right near the stables then have a
look at the properties
in La Mata.
EL RANCHO DE LA FUENTE in Los Belones is
a popular stable as is EL PUNTAL

racing course is in the Hippodrome, a few kilometres from

weeks and the mid week evening meetings are good fun.
Polo
There are eight member polo clubs of the Real Federacion
Espanola de Polo.
