Towns of South-East Spain - Costa Calida
Sucina
About
7 km inland from San Javier airport Sucina is probably most
people’s idea of a typical Spanish village. Centered
around the ‘Nuestra Señora Del Roasario’
church pictured above you will find the normal everyday facilities
such as the bank, supermarket, tabac a good selection of bars,
restaurants and of course the practical stores for home ware,
electrical goods and so on. Sucina has some of the few traditional
bakery shops known as Panaderia where you will find the most
delicious cakes. There is a great family feel about Sucina
– fiestas and siestas are taken very seriously and tradition
runs deep into the hearts of the local people.
The town is expanding into the countryside as some exclusive
resorts and modest homes are being constructed. Many folk
who originally moved to Spain for the coastal resorts are
now finding more appeal from villages likes Sucina. There
are several of the next golf resorts being constructed in
the surrounding areas so the village is bound to prosper and
thrive with the increase in visitors. It certainly has the
capacity and the desire to see more people there.
Temperatures frequently hit the 30’s in summer and
the land is arid here, there are no rivers or lakes so rainwater
is precious in these parts. Unlike here in the UK you never
hear about hose pipe bans and the residences have no problem
with a constant supply of fresh water.
Local farms produce artichokes, beans, melons and tomatoes
for export as well as huge crops of almonds.
Sucina has a very nice atmosphere and lots of charm so well
worth adding to the list of potential places to view property
