Towns of South-East Spain - Costa Blanca South
La Siesta
La
Siesta is next to a nature reserve on a strip of land between
two salt lagoons just 35km south from Alicante's El Altet
Airport and north of Murcia's San Javier Airport. You can
expect approximately 320 days sunshine each year.
La Siesta is one of the longest established urbanisations
in the area and that’s reflected in the well stocked,
comprehensive range of local shops that can be found at Washington
Square commercial area. The Tropicana is a favourite meeting
place as is the Australian Bar – very cosmopolitan!
There are plenty of nice bars and restaurants all on flat,
level walking avenues and roads. The is a very good local
bus service that links with all the major towns in the area.
There is a terrific Bowls club in La Siesta and members are
very proud of their achievements to date. A friendly club
and great place to meet like minded people.
Another good place to socialize is the Princess Martha Louise
of Norway church – a social centre in the town. For
the youngsters the Flamingo Aqua Park is nearby and good fun.
A little further inland there are 2 famous lagoons, the pinky
coloured Torrevieja one and the La Mata lake. These are protected
nature reserves and attract all sorts of bird including the
amazing flamingos. A great area for cycling, walking and riding.
There are 5 excellent golf courses within easy reach and another
3 bowls clubs.
This is a super place if you are looking for a retirement
location or you just want an easy to manage, compact bungalow
that isn’t going to take much maintenance – there
are lots to choose from and at very, very reasonable prices.
All the amenities are easy to walk to and it’s a great
community.
