Towns of South-East Spain - Costa Blanca South
Algorfa
Algorfa
lies on the banks of the Segura River, amid the lush and fertile
countryside of Vega Baga’s citrus farming villages.
Algorfa has a population of approximately 2000, which is
increasing steadily, partly due to the recent emergence of
one of the most prestigious golf courses on the Costa Blanca; La Finca Golf Club with its 18 hole, Par 72, championship
course, opened in 2001 and designed by Jose Gancedo.
As well as a few bars and restaurants, the town square houses
the town hall, police station and the church, and as with
most Spanish villages it is the centre of the community -
the location of many festivals, fiestas and local activities.
Just outside the town is an unusual neo-gothic church that
was built at the beginning of the nineteenth century and is
well worth a visit; as is the ever-popular Sunday Market.
There are great new developments around Algorfa combining
the best of both worlds – a nice modern home in idyllic
traditional surroundings. If you are keen golfer then a home
overlooking the golf course is a wonderful place.
